3 Geeks in an Elevator
Lots of things can happen in an elevator when you’re stuck in there for some time. Bil Simser had started this Internet meme experiment and I thought I would participate!
If I were to be stuck in an elevator with two other (living) geeks, they’d have to be Heather Solomon and Natalya Voskresenskaya. It would be really nice. We’d talk about SP , design and life.
Being locked up in an elevator with two geeks, who would they be? what would you talk about?

improv everywhere!

I have been following up with what these guys have been up to for quite some time and they blow me away with their innovative ideas every single time! The idea was first brought by an American comedian, Charlie Todd, who now teaches and performs long-form improv comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre. In his “spare time” he enjoys organizing tongue-in-cheek “missions” all over New York. Missions such as the hilarious “Red-heads Protest at Wendy’s”, the amazing “Frozen Grand Central”, and their latest: “Mobile Desktops”. I have no idea how they can do that and still keep a straight face! It really requires skill!
Recently, I read at their blog that they have gone international - so I cant wait to see something like this in Kuwait! I also found out that they were the guys behind the “Windws of a Manhattan building” project! My favorite is the Frozen Grand Central mission. Inspired by it, a similarly successful “freeze” experiment was also done in Berlin; the Berlin Alexa Freeze project.
I have also enjoyed the creativity in the experiment done in Dubai, also known as “Go Around Twice If You’re Happy” by writers/directors Vincent Fichard and Matthew Jones.
Would you participate in such “mission”?

A very unique pen review
M. Williams has written a wonderful pen review at Amazon, it’s really funny, this is how it goes:
Very good if you need to write on paper
Since taking delivery of my pen I have been very happy with the quality of ink deposition on the various types of paper that I have used. On the first day when I excitedly unwrapped my pen (thanks for the high quality packaging Amazon!) I just couldn’t contain my excitement and went around finding things to write on, like the shopping list on the notice board in our kitchen, the Post-it notes next to the phone, and on my favourite lined A4 pad at the side of my desk.

Bloody McRoyal

Ok, I am not a fast-food person but my uncle just arrived at our house with his meal and seriously, it was one bloody McRoyal! Of course he didn’t finish it, and I was so upset I took it back to them and made sure the manager saw it. They immediately started offering a new meal or a refund but that wasn’t the point. I explained to them the importance of checking their food quality before giving it out to their customers. It was disgusting.

Happy Eid everyone!

When we were kids, my parents made sure to make every Eid a big deal for us. We woke up in the morning to find the house decorated with sparkly and shiny stars and balloons. Then there was a huge breakfast which baba had prepared around the carefully wrapped gifts in center of the table. It was amazing, we were always impatient during breakfast because the gifts were right infront of us and we wanted to finish quickly! It really grew on us to spread the joy of Eid. So this year, like the past five, we are actually involved in the late night decorating and gift wrapping for my younger brothers to wake up to. This evening though is sort of different for me, I am very much reminded of the less fortunate and I wish I could spread the joy to them as well. I am reminded of our visit to Ethiopia last summer and how happy the kids were over simple gifts. By simple I mean cookies, crayons and drawing books. They were happy people even with the little they had. We have a lot to be thankful for.
Hope you all have a festive and happy Eid. Celebrate it!

Adopting Gabby

A few weeks ago we went over to pick up Gabby from Farragoes and Princesita. It was great meeting them, they are a wonderful couple. Gabby, the cat, is so cute and adorable! It was late and my brothers stayed up waiting at home to greet our new pet! It’s been a while since we last had a cat, so everyone was so excited.
When I told my youngest brother that the cat’s name is Gabby, he immediately asked me: “From what movie?”. So when I explained that pets are not always named after characters in movies, he just decided to call her “Duma” from a movie of the same title. He says Gabby looks like Duma, so that’s that.

Tech Drive in Kuwait
A good friend of mine is collecting some used but in still in good condition desktop computers, laptops and mobile phones to give away to hardworking students in Kuwait that can’t really afford them.
Now, since we buy these products every once in a while, we tend to have outdated computers & gadgets that for some people, are not-so-outdated. So, lets help out and support these students!
If you have anything you can give, please send an email to: techdrive08(at)yahoo[dot]com
