WUFOO forms

While I was preparing for my Microsoft sessions, I decided I would like to get some feedback from the students. So, I tried a new online service and I am amazed and excited about it. Wufoo is dedicated to creating online forms and surveys. It’s really easy to use and within minutes you can have everything up and running.
Even though the conference was canceled, I decided to keep my form online for the sake of demonstrating what you can do with Wufoo. The page is available online at: http://bahrain.wufoo.com/forms/heroes and fill it up while your at it!
The free version of Wufoo account allows you to create 3 forms with a limit to add up to 10 questions in each one. The paid version gives you a lot more features and the packages are at a reasonable price range.
What I loved most is how you can link each form to a CSS file from your web server, and that way you control every pixel on it! The reports generated are also very handy and neat! They can also be exported as excel or cvs. Arabic is supported!
No experience is required to use the WYSIWYG service. I highly recommend it!

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000

A few days ago, I received my Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 and its by far my favorite toy! I feel like Harry Potter and his Nimbus 2000 Firebolt right now.
Its a bluetooth wireless mouse on one side and if you flip it over, it becomes your presentation remote control. For a long time, I would use my dad’s Logitech cordless presenter which I had enjoyed endlessly. All it had was a trackball and 3 buttons. Years have passed and technology always amazes us with newer features that make our lives much easier and enjoyable.

Lovely Charts

I have previously blogged about Smart Draw, and today - after testing it for over a few weeks I decided to share my thoughts on Lovely Charts. It is an online free diagramming service that allows you to create flowcharts, site maps, organization maps, wire frames and network diagrams. I have always wished there was an online version of Smart Draw and I must say, Lovely Charts is looking good and almost ready to be the next big thing in diagramming.
The service is completely free but a premium membership will soon be available at a very low rate. I would love to see it available for multi-user collaboration projects but that is still in the making. Once you have completed your diagram, you can publish it for the public to see or keep it in your account for your own reference. Charts and diagrams can be exported in Image format.
I believe this is an excellent service and look forward to seeing more of its upcoming features! It’s exciting to see all these services available on the Internet. One day, I believe, we will not have any softwares installed on our machines because it will all be available online!

The LaCie I love

When it comes to buying an external hard disk drive, I have learned the hard way, that LaCie is the best solution. I recently ditched my 60GB ipod and didn’t have a replacement. I needed something small, portable and reliable. I have used LaCie drives for quite some time and really liked them.
My experiences with Maxtor HDD have been horrid and I decided to stick with LaCie ever since.Recently, I bought a new addition, small mobile HDD from LaCie (160GB, 5400rpm). It’s awesome. It comes with three ports: bus-power, 6-pin FireWire and Hi-Speed USB 2.0. Cables included. It is bus-powered, so you don’t need to carry any heavy adapters. The drive recharges from the laptop/desktop it is connected to, hence its portability. I have used it on Windows and Mactinosh and it was great - plug and play without a problem (hamdilla). You do not have to install the One-Click Back-up Software included in the package, but I found it useful as it moves large folders smoothly and doesn’t deal with the Windows’ manually drag-and-dropped transfer errors!
What I liked most about it was that its very small and lightweight. I only needed it for backup when I am traveling, so 160GB was great. I have realized that the more GBs you carry, the more you want to fill’em up - with anime, videos, e-books, files, whatever… and then, you never have the time to watch/enjoy it all. So I decided to stick to 160GB.
I bought the drive from Integrated Offices in Hawalli (Kuwait). Price: 50KD. Tel. : +965 2664278
What external HDD you carry with you on the road?
